Dakota Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for Friars Court

First Family-Affordable Housing Community in Hudson, NH

HUDSON, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Dakota Partners hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10am to celebrate the grand opening of Friars Court at 6 Dakota Drive, Hudson, NH 03051. Located in New Hampshire’s largest county where affordable housing is scarce, Friars Court represents the first and only family-affordable housing community in Hudson and brings tremendous value to the community where there is a high demand for quality, safe, and sustainable housing.

In support of the project, Senator Maggie Hassan, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, and Representative Ann Kuster sent letters of commendation. Hassan’s letter reads, in part, “Today’s ceremony marks an exciting step forward in creating safe, high quality housing for all, and I am proud of all of the work that has been done to provide more affordable options here in New Hampshire. Everyone deserves a comfortable place to call home, and each of the units at Friars Court will bring this feeling of stability and security to the families who reside in them.”

The distinguished speakers included:

  • Roberto Arista, Principal, Dakota Partners
  • Brian Groth, Hudson Town Planner
  • Kara Roy, Chairperson, Town of Hudson Board of Selectmen
  • Robert Dapice, Executive Director/CEO, New Hampshire Housing
  • Nate Bondini, VP – Senior Loan Officer, TD Bank
  • Robert Charest, SVP Equity Production, Boston Financial
  • Jeremy Vieira & Sean Donnelly, Dakota Partners

Speaking on behalf of New Hampshire Housing, CEO and Executive Director, Rob Dapice said, “Dakota is rooted in and aware of what’s going on in their communities and they care deeply about their residents. That’s reflected in the way that they manage these properties. They ensure that these remain places where people are excited to live and proud to call home. Friars Court in Hudson is a wonderful example of this. The buildings are beautiful – not only built to a high standard of quality and efficiency but elegant and bright. I love them.”

The new development is nestled on an 11-acre site just a mile from Hudson’s busy central business district and within walking distance of grocery stores, banks, retail stores, post offices, and pharmacies. Commuters will enjoy direct access to State Route 3A and excellent access to public transportation; downtown Nashua’s robust shopping and entertainment area is a short three-mile drive away.

Phase 1 of Friars Court was designed to Certified Passive House standards to ensure high-energy efficiency throughout the year. There are several benefits that residents enjoy from living in a Passive House development, including savings in monthly utility bills from reduced energy use, high indoor air quality due to excellent ventilation, and a sound-proof home from air tightness and super insulation. An early adopter, Dakota is one of the nation’s most active Passive House developers of affordable housing with close to a dozen projects currently under construction or in development.

Friars Court is made up of two separate buildings, the first of which features 47 units. Phase 2 was recently completed, bringing an additional 34 units in another residential building and a Community Building for all residents of Friars Court to enjoy. Each of the residential buildings has a mix of one- and two-bedroom units.

As a real estate developer and builder, Dakota Partners develops affordable, workforce and market-rate housing communities across New England, New York and the mid-Atlantic states. At the core of every project is Dakota’s mission to create housing that matters – to residents, the community, and the environment.
