The Villages at Manville

Manville, RI

Following the success of Lincoln Lofts, Dakota will provide more affordable housing options to the area with The Villages at Manville in the adjacent Manville neighborhood. With 38% of renters in the area reporting to be “rent burdened” and waitlists for affordable housing averaging 3-5 years, this new community will provide much-needed quality, safe, and affordable housing for an underserved and growing population whose household income is typically between 30% and 60% of the median area income.

The Villages at Manville will feature 72 mixed-income rental units in three, 3-story walk up buildings and a community building. The community building will have a management office, fitness center, and community room for recreation. The project will have a mix of one- and two-bedroom units including 8 units income restricted to households earning at or below 30% of AMI and rent subsidized, 49 units income restricted to households earning at or below 60% of AMI, and 15 units priced at market rate. Supportive Services for the project’s 30% AMI units will be provided in conjunction with the HUD Section 811 program by Rhode Island BHDDH and EOHHS.

Located on a 9.23-acre property formerly owned by the adjacent St. James Church, construction will include the demolition of one existing building on site.
